birthday shopping

sweet girls

We are celebrating our sweet Julia's 3rd birthday this weekend and I'm getting really excited. Not only will we have awesome friends and family for the day but birthdays and little kids are just fun in general. I try not to go crazy on my kids' birthdays but once you step foot into Toysrus it can be super hard! We ended up getting her lincoln logs and from Lizzie she is getting a Dora playdoh set. I wanted to get her one more thing so we went to the stuffed animal aisle. She has asked for a unicorn birthday (I did not buy all those supplies!) so we wanted to find something unicorn. We found the most awesome unicorn stick horse and if you squeeze its ear it makes a clip clop sound and nays! The stuffed animals were buy one get one free so after much debate we decided to get Lizzie a regular black stick horse so they could prance around together. We don't normally buy a present for the sibling on someone else's birthday, I think its more important that they learn to help their sister celebrate and be happy for her. But in this instance with the good deal and the fact that it will be so much fun for the two of them to play together, we decided to bend the rules. I think we'll give them the horses in the morning and we'll make less of a big deal about Lizzie's. I hope that works. Hopefully Julia won't remember that Lizzie got something on her birthday come July because we will not be repeating this! :)

We went into the mall briefly and I was reminded of my dislike for shopping. People in general just move too slow for me, why aren't they in a hurry like me to get in and out of there?!?! The fact that they are strolling around and aimlessly wondering kills me! I am not a shopper! But I was super excited to see a sign by the mall for a new restaurant we are getting. I had to call my sister on the west coast because I knew she would share my excitement over the fact that we are getting a Red Robin!! Yay, they have the greatest chicken sandwiches- I'm so excited! I eat there whenever I travel out west to visit family. Discovering that made being out by the mall almost worth it! Mmmmm teriyaki chicken sandwich here I come!!!

The dresses are amazing! Please, whatever you do, do not get me started smocking!! I do not have time for another hobby.

LOL! You're thinking of smacking not smocking. Its basically embroidery on pleated material. My mom made us lots of smocked dresses when we were little. Just another way for me to be obsessively crafty! :)
And yes Lisa, its only a matter of time till I pull you in!!!

Okay, Loving your blog but I have to ask. Is Red Robin really that good? They are all over the place here and I've never been. Guess I need to try it out?
