30, 30 Here I come!!

So in less than 2 weeks I am turning 30. I haven't really decided how to feel about it, I think in adulthood birthdays are a bit of a let down anyway. I hope to fill the weekend with lots of laughter and tons of fun with friends.
In order to cheer myself up I am making a super fun wish list.

a fun bag!
something like this
cute fun pattern
these are cute
a watch (anything that ticks)
kitchenaid mixer
cd player in the van
a good book (not one that I will learn anything from, only be entertained by!)
a new wallet (just to jazz things up a bit)

That should make the transition into the 30s a little bit easier. LOL
Happy shopping Mom and Andy.

Is it lunch time yet?

This time change is really messing with me. At first I was super excited about the extra hour I got to have and now it feels like this morning is crawling by. Mostly because Lizzie started the day at about 6:15 which is an hour earlier then usual.
I guess that's to be expected. Now I'm clock watching waiting to make some lunch. LOL, so much for my appreciative attitude.
Here is what the girls are preoccupied with besides climbing on me and whining at me!

So maybe if we all think lunch should be earlier then nap will be earlier as well, a girl can hope!

Dressing up

Wednesday at Lizzie preschool was "hillbilly" day. Here's the class shot.

They were so cute. I was the helper for the day and sort of dressed up (notice I am not in the picture).

Then at Mother's Day out on Thursday they were able to dress up as well and the classes had little parties. I haven't quite decided how I feel about the whole Halloween thing, Lizzie is so young she doesn't even know what trick or treating is. I guess if we lived in a different neighborhood where crowds of kids went around we would take her around but we hardly get any trick or treaters. When they told me she was allowed to dress up last week I thought, ugh- she's only 3 I don't want to buy anything. So we raided her dress up trunk and she agreed to be a ballerina. All the other girls in her class were princesses (of course), Lizzie still hasn't seen any disney movies (that I know of) and I am not a fan of the princess thing. Just another one of my uptight opinions.

Our weekend will consist of laundry, laundry, laundry. I didn't keep up well this week so I have lots of basic cleaning to do. I've been really tired lately and we're trying to figure out why. I see the hematologist sometime next week and we'll see if all is well with blood and circulation. I've been feeling sluggish and had some episodes of a pounding heart beat and tingling in one hand so I'm wondering what is going on. I saw a cardiologist (which felt like a big overreaction) a few weeks ago and before we get into really expensive testing I want to touch base with my hematologist who is familiar with factor five. Sometimes it all feels like we're overreacting but then my hand tingles and my imagination goes crazy!

Julia is now covered head to toe with yogurt, time to drag myself up and away from the computer.

Space for two more!

No we are not pregnant with twins but we are the proud owers of a new compact mini van.

Well, its not new by any means (in fact its a 95) but it only had 80,000 on it so we think it has life for at least 2 more years without much upkeep (hopefully). When faced with making a $1000 purchse for plane tickets to fly up to MA for Christmas this year we decided to put the money towards something and drive up. I hope I don't live to regret that decision!
It's nice to have more room and to have people ride with us and the girls. And who knows, maybe we'll fill those back seats someday. . . possibly with groceries!

Julia's photo shoot

I just took Julia's pictures since she wasn't very happy during my first attempt. Lizzie did an awesome job playing peek-a-boo behind me and that seemed to do the trick. I need to darken the black cloth and do some other things in photoshop but these are super cute! I'm pretty excited with the results. I might have to do more of Lizzie on Friday and then finally return Amy's camera to her. : )

Monday morning

We are all spending the day getting back into the swing of things. I just returned yesterday from a weekend away with my accountability group (it was awesome- pictures to be posted shortly)! Lizzie spent the weekend with her Nann and had a blast and Julia and Andy had some quality time. Because my husband is FANTABULOUS, I really don't have much cleaning to do today. So...instead of working on an ad that I have due tomorrow, I have decided to take pictures of the girls.
Um, here's how its going so far...
attempt at picts.jpg

They are currently eating lollipops since I had to bribe them to sit still. UGH, I hate bribery. I really shouldn't take pictures of my kids. A perfectionistic designer should not take pictures of her own toddlers. LOL, its not good!!
Now they have blue mouths so I guess I'll have to get more of Julia and the two of them tomorrow. Lizzie's actually look good. I'll touch them up a bit and post them on flickr for family/friends to order prints.

I do have one of Julia with her dress over her face, maybe I'll post that one later.
I'm trying to take pictures since I have Amy's fancy shmancy Nikon from our weekend away.

Alright Julia is eating the lollipop stick, time to sign off.

Weekend with the Goseys and a few changes

Oct at the Goseys.jpg

On Friday afternoon we drove down to Atlanta to spend a weekend with the Goseys. It was so much fun and nice to be with good friends.
During the day we tried to wear the girls out at different parks and we all ended up joining in on the fun. Although JoyLynne and I realized that our upper body strength is not what it used to be when playing on the monkey bars, or it could be the nearly 100 lbs of additional weight that we are carrying in comparison to the first grade!
Check out more pictures of our weekend!
After spending the weekend in the Goseys home, we are newly motivated to fix up our own house. It was fun to hear their dreams and plans and Andy and I came home with dreams and plans of our own. We've decided to put in a stone patio on the lower part of our back yard and clean up the top part. Hopefully it will be within our budget, I'm still waiting on the quote. We'll tackle the front of the house next season. After putting the girls to bed on Sunday evening, we cleaned out our room and closet and rearranged the furniture. Our bed is in a totally new spot and its a lot bigger. It's a great change and has strangely made me more excited about our little house. I was considering painting our cupboards and sort of putting off the kitchen all together but have be thinking now (after talking with a wise friend, that would be you Lisa-LOL) that I might just clean them up with steel wool and repoly them and do my countertops to match the dark wood. The cabinets are in great condition and there is really no reason to paint over them accept the laminate I fell in love with doesn't go with dark wood. But I am reworking my plans and I'll fall in love with new laminate. My friend who is an interior designer is coming over on thursday to pick up some thank you cards I designed for her and to help me with color decisions. I am so excited. I just spent nap time putting a coat of paint on some shutters that we have has in our garage for at least 2 years. Those bad boys are going up this weekend!
I have also convinced Andy that we need to start setting the alarm in the morning. This is probably the hardest change of all. My husband and I are both selfish selfish people when it comes to sleep. (I'm not bashing him at all, he would readily admit this is true) And each morning we have the same discussion about who is going to get the girls while trying to nudge the other one out of bed. There are days when one person will get out of bed without complaint inorder to do something nice for the other one but there are also days where we end up a tad grumpy and bitter. It's so sad, I know! We're pitiful. Anyway, I got the epiphany that if we set the alarm and beat the girls up and have time to adjust and time to ourselves and who knows- maybe even a quiet time, then our days might start out much better. This was our first morning, and oddly Julia beat us up, but it was nice that it was the alarm that got us out of bed and not a guilt trip by the other person. I think its going to pay off but its going to be a bit of work because we are NOT morning people.
Before I sign off, I wanted to list out some of Lizzie's imaginary friends before I forget. I've been meaning to do this for a while since she comes up with the most hilarious names:

Seeya (this was the first one)
Haynook
Madison (not so weird, I know)
Milly
Jary
The Roast (I have no idea what this means!)
Rizzery (her dog)
