Umm, WHAT!
Taking a break from my obsessive packing for our trip to tell this story:
I was at a shower this afternoon with some friends from church and other girls who were either still in school or recent graduates (I promise those details are relevant). As I was leaving one girl came up to me and reminded me of a time that we met last year and she said, "I just wanted to tell you that I think you're really cool". . . wait, its coming. . . I didn't sign on to my blog to post something arrogant. . . then she says, "I hope I'm that cool when I'm THIRTY!!" WHAT! I smiled and shuffled and said I don't even know what. WHAT! LOL! That is messed up. So I call Andy on my way home to tell him which he thought was hilarious and I said, so is that a compliment that I'm cool or was she saying I was old, of course he went with the latter.
I really still see myself as maybe 26 or 27, and its so thrilling (heavy sarcasm) when someone points out to me that I am not. Even with good intentions.
sigh.

Birthday behind me

So with each day I am now closing in on 31, wow that's a really ugly way of putting it! I had a great birthday weekend surrounded by lots of friends and family. We started the festivities on Friday (30 officially came on Sunday) with a great dinner at River Street deli and then back to the house for cake and my favorite Clumpies raspberry sorbet. I got so many fun gifts, one of Amber's purses, some great clothes, gift certificate for a night out including free over night babysitting- YES!, a book and my husband got me a Magic Bullet- which I lust after each time I get stuck on their extremely cheesy infommercial.
On Saturday my mom came and the girls went out to a movie. We saw Stranger than Fiction and it was pretty good. It was kind of like going to The Break Up in a way, you expect it to be a comedy and its more of a drama and relationally heavy. Will Ferrell even cries and I thought it was quite believable. Emma Thompson was great, it was a bit slow moving but consistently paced.
Ok enough of my crude review.
Sunday we had lunch with my mom and then she left and we all collapsed and Andy actually ended up sick on the couch. The girls and I had left overs for dinner which was kind of a sad end to the weekend especially since it was my actual birthday but I really have absolutely nothing to complain about since the whole weekend was full of favorites and special treats. It's kind of a downer when its finally all over.
Now my focus is on preparing us for our flight across country next Tuesday. We are heading out to WA to see my family for thanksgiving. It's quite the task to pack for the girls for a week and to pack entertaining gear for the flight. It's going to be a long travelling day beginning with us leaving here for Nashville at 5am and flying to Chicago then Seattle. Once we arrive in Seattle we still have a 5 hour drive to Richland where we'll be staying. I've already hit walmart and gotten some new small pads of paper and a new box of 16 crayons and stickers. Tomorrow or saturday I'll hit McKays for 2 new (used) books for each girl and 1 or 2 dvds. We're hoping to buy a portable dvd player for the trip, since I don't want to take my computer on the trip.
(breath) so with my running packing lists that I started on Monday, I should be all set. I try to remember right before I leave for the airport that all I need is my license and the girls car seats and pretty much everything else can be purchased.
Time to get back to work, I have an ad due on Friday. I was telling a friend today that I have a love hate relationship with freelance, while I'm so greatful that I have something that I can do at home, it sometimes gets in the way of more fun things that I want to do- like making earrings! LOL! Good thing my supervisor doesn't know I have a blog, although I think he would also rather be doing something fun instead of work! Wouldn't we all!

Clearance costumes are great!
We didn't really celebrate Halloween last week, I'm still not quite sure what our tradition will be. I'm thinking we might try to get some families together next year for a dinner and games for the kids and maybe hit a few houses. With Lizzie only being 3 she still doesn't know what it is, so we decided to ride the ignorance train one more year.
I did want to be on the lookout for some clearance costumes for our dress up basket and I think we scored some good ones. These were 75% off the price (at brainerd Walmart where there are still tons of superman costumes) and ended up being like three and five dollars.

(Lizzie's dress is on backwards)
Yesterday felt like a tiring day, they have all felt like that this week for some reason. It seemed like one step forward and two steps back in regards to house work and even today I am deciding between a nap and cleaning.
Here's how the girls were a big help to me yesterday:

They emptied their entire book shelf into the crib. At least they were working together as a team.

Alright time for nap time, er I mean chores. Yeah, that's gonna happen!
