Going Public
Now that we once again got to see the little guy in an ultrasound we decided it was probably about time to go public with our news. We'll be welcoming our third little one in early October! It has been a tough beginning so its probably a good thing I wasn't blogging about it cause it would have been really negative because of the nausea. After todays scan at the high risk I actually felt excited for the first time since I took the test several weeks ago. I know that sounds really pitiful, but the nausea was a big distraction. We are turning that corner though and if this pollen would ever wash away I'd be good to go.
This was my first dilemma, taking an allergy medicine. I had decided against it but am now going on my 6th day and had asked the high risk ob what meds they approve. I figured, they are high risk maybe they are more conservative with what they recommend. And I'll feel comfortable taking it. Well, the guy er dr I mean, actually listed several allergy medicines including claritin d. So this evening, I thought I would go down to a pharmacy and get a childrens clariton d, that was middle ground. I went up to ask the pharmacist if he thought sudafed would be better and he said, "oh I can't recommend any medication". I told him it was already approved by my ob I just wanted an opinion (big mistake). So he proceeds to tell me, kindly, that he doesn't like to tell women who are pregnant to take meds. Not enough research has been done on the medicines and who wants their baby to be a guinea pig, no one. So at this point I'm thinking I should flee with my claritin d and trust my ob. But he's not done, he then says he considers himself PRO fetus and started talking about all thats developing (well i'm pro fetus too). And he has 10 grandchildren that he really loves and he wouldn't want anything to happen to them. He is really just offering nice advice although he carried on longer than necessary and darn it, he changed my mind.
So here I am, no meds, but an unaffected fetus. . . I guess. UGH!!
His suggestion, flushing with warm salt water and wait it out like the other 100,000 people in Chattanooga suffering from allergies (his words I swear).
I'm praying for rain instead.

Park play date
I organize a park play date for NCF moms (meaning I send out emails!) on the last friday of the month and we are starting up for spring.
I thought I'd post it for any readers who wanted to join, this is not exclusively for New City ladies, I'd love to see lots of other moms there.
Tomorrow (short notice I know) we're going to The Meadows- 1820 Hickory Valley Rd 37421 which is a park across from Ridgedale Baptist church.
Across from the church there is a sign for the Meadows but the park is not right on the road. Park in the parking lot and you'll see a sidewalk leading to the park.
We meet between 10 and 10:30 and usually bring sack lunches. I'll try to post the next park with a bit more notice.

Swim lessons anyone?
I just signed Lizzie up for swimming lessons at the Dowtown Y in case anyone out there wants to join us. I'd love for a preschooler Lizzie knows to be in the class to make it a little less intimidating and selfishly I'd love to hang with a mom I know while we watch our little ones splash around.
The class is Tues and Thurs from 6-6:30 for preschoolers, starting next week.
I just registered tonight so it doesn't seem to be too full.

Another precious parenting moment
So apparently my children are in a competition of who can embaress their parents more. I thought Julia had it in the bag with her little fire alarm stunt but as it turns out her sister didn't want to be out done. Last night we went down to Coolidge park for a bit of after dinner running around and then we made a stop at Clumpies for some ice cream. While Julia and I were in line, Andy and Lizzie went to save the booth by the front door. Andy walked back towards me to tell me what he wanted and low and behold the lights started turning off. The girl behind the counter looked really confused and then ran to the end of the counter (in the direction of the booth and my daughter, the culprit). The situation was over really quickly but I just had this desire to look around and say "I have good kids, I swear!" I didn't want to crawl in a hole like with the fire alarm but it was a tad embaressing.
I wonder what they'll do to top this, I hope Andy is the only parent with them when it happens!

Good Times
I enjoyed my great little get away to Nashville thoroughly! It was a blast.
I arrived a little before lunch to Val's new apartment and we made arrangements to meet Evie in Hillsboro village for lunch. We ate at this great place called Fido, yummy salad with hummus. We laughed and quickly caught up on our lives. Then we hopped in Evie's very cool old GMC truck, which smelled like the old Ford my dad had when I was little and we tooled around town.

Val and Ev cruising in the truck.
We went downtown to Hatch Show Print where we all got a poster or two. Incidently Ev and I were looking through two different piles and picked the same poster out and turned to show one another, not much changes in all these years. (I'll try to post a picture of me new little poster later)

Evie
We went by the gallery showing Evie's work, and then drove on to Franklin to go to some shops. We visited the Iron Gate which was very cool, Bella Linea (very nice linens store) and lots of other over priced places where we could ooh and ahh over the eye candy. We finished the afternoon in Franklin with a stop for some chocolate at the Cocoa Tree.

Ev and I on a very swanky $4000 couch.
In the evening we went to Evie's parents house for dinner, it was so fun to be there since I spent many a weekend with them while in school. We had a delicious dinner and then watched an old movie Evie and I saw together in school. I think we sufficiently freaked Val out with The Bad Seed. Man, even the cover creeps me out! It has the greatest lines to quote and it was fun to go back down memory lane.
I came home Sunday afternoon (after sleeping in) to a very happy household, with all the laundry done, the pot hole in the driveway filled, and my van washed. I am certainly a lucky gal!!

Getting away
Nashville or bust!
I'm heading out tomorrow morning for a visit to Nashville and my favorite cousin Valerie who just got a design job there and is settling in. I'm so appreciative and excited about the time away to have a little fun. We're hooking up with Evie, my partner in crime from our days in the UTC art dept, and we're having lunch and hitting a few shops. It'll be so much fun spending the day with 2 extremely creative people, I hope it rubs off on me. I've been dragging this past month and haven't been nearly as active as usual. I am really looking forward to being with the girls. Hopefully we'll hit a studio showing Ev's work and possibly Hatch Show Print just because I love it there.
My fantabulous husband will be holding down the home front. It's wonderful to have a partner who isn't afraid to take on the kids for more than 24 hours by themselves. Thanks hon!!
