afternoon ramblings

This afternoon when I picked Lizzie up from vbs she got really perturbed when we left because this little boy was holding the door open for us. She tried to stand next to him and help and he said, "boys can hold the door open for others, its nice to do." I commended him for being a gentleman and said he had such nice manners. Lizzie had a sour face for a while in the back seat and when I asked her what was wrong she stated, "I did not like that boy holding the door for me!" I told her it was very nice for someone to hold the door for us and its a nice thing for a boy to do. To which she responded, "girls can hold the door too!" The thing that was cracking me up is the depth of what she was saying without her meaning to. She was coming across as this little feminist even though I know she's just being a 3 yr old who didn't get to do what she wanted. It was a pretty humorous exchange.

Also while we were at the church some stranger rubbed my belly and asked how much longer I had to go. ICK- this is a NO RUB zone. Am I going to have to make up t-shirts with that printed on them or maybe I'll reach across and rub their stomach even if they aren't pregnant! Touching someone's belly is an invite ONLY. Then when I told her when I was due she proceeded to tell me her birthday was October 10th and I should try to have the baby on her birthday. Um, this is another thing that annoys me to no end. Any other special day requests so I can schedule my c-section around some stranger's birthday and not a day that works for my family and Doctor?

Hmmm I think its getting close to nap time cause I'm getting quite sassy and opinionated. The girls just emptied two decks of cards on the floor so I guess its time to dash.

I get those comments too & I'm not even scheduling my birth. Very irritating! Why would I care if she's born on so & so's birthday or anniversary? I want her to have her own day.

But I have to admit to kinda liking the belly rubs. Maybe I'm weird - it just seems like they're already showing my kid some love & I eat it up.

Lol about your little feminist daughter!

I had the same kind of experience yesterday at VBS. Some girl I don't know (probably the same person!) started rubbing my belly so that she could tell me what the sex of the baby was! I gave her a look like "Girl, you better get your hand off of my stomach before I smack you"! It is especially weird at this point in my pregnancy because I am hardly showing so it feels to me that they are just touching my body, instead of trying to feel the baby. So I'm with you!

You go Lizzy (my training is paying off! LOL). I agree Jen, people need to keep their mitts off my granddaughter. My birthday is Oct 12 by the way.

I was telling my sister about the lady touching your belly. Anna never wants people touching her, except her husband and kids, of course, but she usually gets really huge when she's pregnant. I told her you're not big at all, though. She said you should back up and look at the lady and say, "You think I'm pregnant?"

Oh, and my niece's birthday is October 5. By that point, you'll be ready to have her out, I'm sure.
