aggravating

Today is my first day solo and I'm actually showered, pretty well fed and even took all three to the Dr. Julia went last week and has bronchitis and Lizzie started coughing this weekend so I took her today. She has yet to develop bronchitis and just has a bad sinus infection. So they are both on antibiotics. I just couldn't chance anyone missing school or mothers day out! And wouldn't you know while we were there I noticed a white spot in the baby's mouth! Great! Now we have thrush as well. This is so irritating to me and worries me to no end because I just don't want anything to ruin nursing. I've worked so hard and am still cracked on one side! I know thrush doesn't ruin it, but it sure does become a nuisance and it makes me want to cry with discouragement. She's been fussy the past two days and I'm thinking now its probably yeast in her system and it might be causing her gas pains. I dropped off the prescription for nystatin but am toying with the idea of using the blue dye stuff (genetian violet, or whatever). It's just such a mess but could be over with in 3 days instead of 14 days of treatment. Any suggestions?

So my first week alone is not really off to the greatest start, but we'll continue to press through. Andy let me sleep an extra hour this morning till 9 which was nice but now we won't see him till 5:30 or later. Oh well, its the price we pay.

My girls have watched an excessive amount of TV today which I'm trying to be fine with. I've joked that my helper this week is PBS, see so I'm not alone. LOL

Your first solo day is almost done! You made it! I am very impressed with the showering too, by the way. I am sorry everyone is sick, and thank goodness for PBS. What did moms do before TV when everyone is sick and there is a newborn to care for :) ?

the nystatin didn't work for my daughter, it actually caused more gi upset. the gentian violet did work really well. it makes a big mess and be sure to have your cameras ready for the purple mouth! but it worked well and fast.

Hang in there Jennifer!! You'll be happy to know that I've caught your crabbiness and am currently constantly biting my tongue. One of the ER docs tonight said my belly was about the size of a woman's basketball which meant I was around 31 weeks. Ummm, try 24, thanks buddy...

I think you are doing well under the circumstances Jenn. hang in there. I pray your kids are feeling better. Rehema has bronchitis too and Sila took her to the doctor friday. Hey, I have been looking for that genetian violet (we call it GV) since I landed in the US, where can I buy it from?
they just said in the news today, it is not how much TV your kids watch, it what they watch that counts :-) something like a little of the violent cartoons is not good!

Grace- I called Kingwood Pharmacy on Ringgold rd and bought their last bottle, but I think they can order some in. I thought a compounding pharmacy might be more likely to have it.
Thanks for the encouragement all! The girls are acting like they are feeling better, which means their attitudes are greatly improved. And I now have a purple mouthed baby.
Mary- let's don't call it crabby, I like to think of it as a campaign to educate ignorant people on what is appropriate to say to a pregnant woman. So quit biting your tongue, you are doing the stupid people out there a real disservice by not being honest! ;)

oh jenn, you are a trooper! i'm so sorry that everyone is not feeling well, but are at least on the mend. you are doing great, and i have to agree with joy lynn on the showering. from what i hear that is one of the hardest things to get done!! i'm off thursday and friday if you want some company. i don't know if i told you, but along with the campaign to educate ignorant people; i had a lady tell me that she felt sorry for me because i was having a boy! i laughed in her face....what a jerk!

I had someone say "darn" when I told them I was having a girl. People are so clueless.

I've heard you can give even a baby that little about a teaspoon of plain yogurt to help with yeast issues.
