Is it too early to call?

I believe its official, we are potty trained- FINALLY! What began 13 months ago is finally completed (watch I just jinxed myself!).
After m&ms, jelly beans, reeses pieces, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, gummi life savers, peanut m&ms, skittles, numerous sticker charts, dollar store toys, many tears (both from her and from me) I think we might be past this horrid stage!
Last week I sent her to preschool with panties on (she had been wearing a pullup) and I told her she to mention it to her teacher kind of like a secret, thinking this would help her teacher encourage her to try when other kids went. So she was walking down the hall to her class and another little girl with her dad was walking next to her and he said, "good morning, do you want to walk with us?" and she responded loudly, "I'm wearing panties today!".
LOL, not the secret way I was hoping for. Oh well.
I don't know what took Julia so long and I don't think anything necessarily clicked for her in the end. This whole process for us with her has been gradual change, there was never a switch that flipped on. I had to continue to remind myself to look at the big picture, we are not in the same place we were 3 months ago- so things are changing. I know not all moms get as aggravated as I did during the process, I'm sure it has to do with personality. I tend to be black and white about things and it was a frustrating process for me. After a year of potty training I am hoping I don't lose my empathy for another mom who is going through the process and respond with, well you know she won't go to school in a diaper and it will happen eventually. I know people mean well when they say that and yes it is truth but sometimes I want someone to just get down and dirty with me and say "that stinks!". I call the previous statements bandaid statements because I think people think they are honestly helping but they are just covering up the wound. (it appears I'm comparing potty training to a wound now)
We need to get in the trenches with each other (and now potty training is a war), share new ideas, pray for one another and pray for one another's hearts to be encouraged.
That's 2 out of 3, over half way done!!! And I'm sure Caroline will be one of those kids who does it in a day and wears panties to bed right away- see how the process didn't kill my optimism. :)

And to wrap it up here's another bible lesson brought to you by Julia, I had no idea what story she was going to tell so kudos to Mrs Bethann for doing an AWESOME teaching job!

I love it! Your little girl is so adorable! I know you are so thrilled about Julia's potty training as well! What a cause for celebration, I know! Glad you enjoyed Jon's entry about Yogurt body wash... had I known it would cause him to flip out I would have bought it a long time ago... it was just on sale and smelled good to me! I plan to update my blog soon... sorry for the delay!

Congratulations! What a long, horrendous battle. For what it's worth, I think you handled it very gracefully.

I would have pulled my hair out a LONG time ago. You handled it like a champ. =-]
Oh and Henry pee'd his pants at the Zoo today... twice.

Good memory Julia, and high five for wearing panties!! We are a ways behind ya... pull-ups are still our friend.
