musical rooms
This weekend we made the big switch and moved Caroline into the big girls' room. We have 3 bedrooms but one is located next to the kitchen and wouldn't be suitable for sleeping so its our office. So for the past yr we have had a crib in our room. As it became more obvious that Caroline needed to learn to sleep through the night we made the decision to move the girls to the basement while we let her cry it out. I had some real apprehensions about having the girls on a different floor, these included ridiculous things like fires and burglars and other things that are unlikely to happen. I don't like the idea of them being so far away. They have done really well considering its their playroom. For the past two nights Andy has sat at the bottom of the stairs after reading to them as a sort of accountability to not talk and to go to sleep. The first night we went in and patted Caroline on the back (I think 3 times) and she was awake and unhappy for about 30-and hour each time. Last night I think she cried twice and I wasn't awake enough to time it. She doesn't stand and scream she is stilling laying down and its more of an annoyed cry. It hasn't been too horrible. I didn't like it but I know it will totally pay off as I see the light at the end of the tunnel, a long and sleepless tunnel. 8 hrs of uninterrupted sleep is within my grasp!!! :)
We hope to move the girls back to their room once she is comfortable through the night in there and we know there will be some bumps in the road but we have to make do until we are able to move. It's nice to know that if its horrible, the girls seem to do fine downstairs. We'll see.
Friday we had some big halloween fun! We had a chili dinner with some friends while our kids all ran around together. It was nice to have a place to go since we wouldn't trick or treat in our neighborhood and weren't crazy about all the candy anyway. Course we some how managed to bring a bag home anyway. :)
Julia wanted pink butterfly wings with red spots and then we found felt butterflies at walmart and she wanted them all over her- so she's more of a butterfly lover than a butterfly. LOL She made up her own costume and had a blast.
Lizzie was Dorothy and Caroline was the cutest little turtle ever!
