Am I old enough?

I can't believe I have a child old enough to lose a tooth! Really? Lizzie lost her first tooth on Sunday and was so excited.
She was up that morning watching tv (we of course were in bed, since it was before 7am) and she came and told us that she was moving her tooth a lot and heard a crunching sound. (I know, nasty) When she left the room, Andy said, "um you're going to deal with that". LOL Then a little bit later she came back in to say she had pulled it out! I have to say, I was shocked. Lizzie cries when I brush her hair, she isn't the toughest little thing. I think the excitement of losing a tooth over rode her anxiety about pain. :)
I didn't have a "tooth fairy pillow" per say so we decided to sew one that afternoon. I had one with a little pocket on it when I was little and thought it would be fun for her to have one. I had also been thinking about whether or not we'd do the tooth fairy thing, since I didn't really want to not be truthful with her and kept feeling like it would be weird when she found out. So we said it was something we could pretend at and she knows we left the quarter. Which she was super excited about, even though that day her friend said that sometimes parents give dollars! (thanks for that Amy!)

Sewing, on the lowest speed. She sewed the 4 sides and I sewed the little pocket on the front.

She sat and diligently stuffed the entire pillow.

When we went in that night to put the quarter in I couldn't find it and the saw that she was clutching it like a stuffed animal. LOL I told her I thought we might be able to add two ribbons to the top so we could tie it to her bed railing.

It was a monumental weekend.

Lizzie can't possibly have lost a tooth!!! Aren't they still supposed to be our babies? I am impressed she pulled it herself! Love the gaptooth pictures!

Why is it kids just look so much older (and adorable) with that first missing tooth? Lizzie is a cutie pie with that little smile and holding her pillow so proudly and daintily. You should sell those by the way... or just make them for your friends:)

Oh Jenn! Big day for all of you. I can remember my mom sewing barbie dresses for me when I would lose a tooth. That was one of my favorite memories as a kid. I know the tooth was special, but she will look back at making the pillow with you and have an even better memory.
