shut ins

Like most of the rest of our friends with small kids we have had the funk, as i like to call it, for several weeks now. Caroline was the first to go to the dr with a fever about two weeks ago. Since she has kidney reflux we always have to rule out a uti and she was fine, just fighting a bad virus. I watched the virus run its course with the older girls as well and they both seemed to be better but Julia got worse over the weekend. Her combination of fever and coughing was pretty stressful especially at night because of our febrile seizure experience with her. All logic says it probably won't repeat itself and even if it did its completely harmless but my mind isn't always logical (especially late at night). If the idea of her having a seizure alone in her bed even crept into my head I would tip toe in and check on her and feel her head, that was quite a lot (or to be fair, I would nudge Andy to go in). :) We ended up getting some tylenol with codeine called in on Sunday for that night and it did a great deal to calm her cough and help the fever, although nothing works like motrin on a fever!
At the dr on Monday we found out she actually had pneumonia. Basically she had the same virus and it got into her lungs and turned way bad.
We left with a nebulizer and have done 4 breathing treatments a day and she was already sleeping through the night by last night! What a relief. Pneumonia is a piece of cake. :) Just Kidding. We have breathing treatments for another 5 days, but I am glad to see such a quick turn around.
I took some pictures of her while doing the treatment, it looks more pitiful than it is. Depending on her mood, she will either not even really notice or she'll cry. If the tv is on she is usually good. :)
Hope all our friends get healthy soon. We can't wait to leave the house again!!!

Poor baby! That is no fun at all. poor mommy too, it's miserable having sick kids. Abby and Josiah had the crud too... it was really gross. After two weeks their noses are still running! Now I have it, but it feels more like the flu.

I'm glad the nebs are helping Julia. Pneumonia is awful. I hope you stay well. Warmer weather is coming!

Oh Jenn, I'm so sorry she's so sick! Poor thing. I hate doing those breathing treatments--Jackson has to do them a lot sadly but pneumonia sounds so serious!

I can't believe she can still sit in a bouncy seat - yes, that's what I got out of that post - lol.

Oh, poor shut-ins. That's us too, I've had the funk for 7 days now and Jack's cough sounds like he's drowning. The girls just seemed to have a touch, so that's been good. Your girls are so cute. I can't believe Lizzie's tooth either, amazing!
Love, Christy
