fabric hanging bookshelf

I found myself forwarding this link around once Sharon sent it to me (thanks Sharon!!) and I thought I might as well just post it since I know there are several sewing mamas who check in now and again. :)

The only thing keeping me from running to the fabric store, besides the fact I'm wearing sweats, is that I'm waiting for the next house. But once we get in I will be on this one! (no not moving anytime soon, another post entirely)

Click on the image below or the link to find the directions for making this really great fabric bookshelf with only dowel rods, fabric and some curtain hardware. It's a great way to keep your books forward facing which encourages reading.

I have just decided that I must have this for Mandy's room. When I first saw your post, I thought it was a good idea, but I don't really have a good spot for one. Then I realized I have a small, 24" wall & I could just put 3 little ones. I even have some dark purple fabric (that was supposed to be the back of the quilt I never made) that has the alphabet that would be too perfect.

Thanks for sharing the idea.

Oh good. I really would love to have one for each girl. I could see Lizzie sliding a flash light into one when she learns to read and is reading before bed. At Ikea they had a small spice rack displayed right next to the pillow in a child's room and they had a few books in it and I always liked the idea. Especially when they grow out of naps but need an afternoon rest time. Did I mention I can't wait till Lizzie can read, that will be awesome! :) By the way, I think the little girl in this picture sort of resembles Mandy.
